Who still knows the Berliner Schafsnase, the Gravensteiner or a Jakob Lebel? Behind these names hide old, aromatic apple varieties that are threatened with extinction. Many of these old varieties also grow on the orchards in Wiesbaden, but they become fewer every year. Naturefund wants to preserve these old type of fruits and the valuable habitat of the orchards. With a donation of 5 € we can preserve 1 m² of an orchard meadow in the long term and with 25 € we can plant a tree of an old variety. more

The area of orchards offers a wide variety of animals a diverse range of food, nesting and protection areas.
As a cultural landscape, orchards not only offer a place to relax, they also form important biotopes for the diversity of other plants. In contrast to orchards, these areas are only cultivated with care and therefore chemical pesticides and material fertilizers are not used. Pure nature for the preservation of species.
