Naturefund and EURid planted 500 rare chequer trees at the edge of the Calden forest together with the District Forester Matthias Moos of Hessenforst. The chequer tree is one of the rarest trees in Germany making up less than 1% of the overall tree population. However, it is precisely this tree that offers nourishment and a habitat to many different species. more

The forest ranger Matthias Moos has been campaigned for a nature-friendly and sustainable forest cultivation for many years. The forester's house Calden will look after the afforestation of the service trees in the long term. As another partner EURid is playing an important role.
