More Space for the Forest
Visitors from Madagascar at Our Dynamic Agroforestry Project
For many years, we’ve been visiting our projects in distant countries. A few weeks ago, the tables turned: Jeremi and Vula from Madagascar came to visit us in Wiesbaden. For ten years, we’ve been working together to establish dynamic agroforestry systems on the island.
Together, we walked through our experimental field in Wiesbaden-Erbenheim, shared experiences, and learned from one another. That’s exactly what makes dynamic agroforestry so exciting: there’s still so much to discover, and every new perspective opens up new possibilities.
Jeremi also brought a gift with him. Of course, he brought vanilla from Madagascar. But the best gift was a message that touched us deeply: More than 2,000 families at twelve locations in Madagascar are now working with dynamic agroforestry systems. What started as a small project has grown into something that is spreading ever wider and reaching more and more people.

The Happiness of Calves
In May and June, our herd welcomed some new arrivals: two gorgeous bull calves and a heifer calf.
The first bull calf already has a name: Xar. And he carries it with dignity. Even during his very first move to a new pasture, he marched confidently half a kilometer ahead—though in the wrong direction. Fortunately, we were able to catch him again and bring him back to the herd.
His younger companion is much more cautious and prefers to observe the world from a safe distance at first. The little heifer, on the other hand, curiously explores every corner of the pasture.
The calves are growing up among old fruit trees, tall grass, and a wide-open sky. When starlings rest on the cattle’s backs and your gaze wanders over the landscape, it sometimes feels a little like being in Africa.
The calves’ happiness is palpable everywhere. Working with the cattle connects us to nature anew every day—and makes us happy, too.
