her quote:

"Farmers need a reliable income base. They should receive adequate remuneration for concrete, site-appropriate nature conservation measures such as pesticide-free cultivation methods, the planting and maintenance of hedges or the keeping open of pasture land. Mandatory labelling in the area of animal products would also help: Consumers could then be sure that a higher price would also finance more animal welfare and nature conservation."

his quote:

"Nature conservation and sustainability:

In general, we Greens advocate a paradigm shift in agricultural policy. We demand that in an adaptation phase up to 2027, public funds should only be allocated if this results in positive benefits for society. To this end, subsidies must be linked to criteria relating to the aforementioned social benefits.  Above all, animal welfare, biodiversity, climate and environmental protection are in our focus. For example, we call for an upper limit of farm animals per farm, i.e. a coupling of the animals kept on a farm to the farmland available on the farm for feed use. We reject land-free industrial animal husbandry. We want to prohibit torture breeding for all animal species, as well as pointless chicken-killing, for which there are many proven, sensible solutions. We demand legally binding regulations for every type of farm animal, which guarantee that animals lead a dignified life.

Regionality:

Here we demand a strengthening of regional marketing and consumption structures. This includes the greater integration of regional products in the communal catering of public institutions and the strengthening of marketing structures in markets, supermarkets, etc.  In addition, uniform labelling of regional products should ensure that it is also recognisable to the consumer if the products are from the region.

Diversity and wealth:

Species-rich cultural landscapes are essential for the stability of our ecosystems and the productivity of our agricultural systems. To achieve this, agricultural systems must be small-scale, diverse, characterized by strips of trees, crop rotations with legumes and pasture farming. Agricultural deserts should be a thing of the past, as they destroy the ecosystem services of our nature. Stable systems are also essential in the face of the climate crisis, for example to be better prepared for extreme weather events and invasive species/diseases.

Education:

The agricultural turnaround also requires a corresponding change in the education and extension system. Organic farming and other innovative systems must be firmly established in agricultural schools. Comprehensive advice for farmers, for example on reducing pesticides or fertilisers, should enable them to switch to more sustainable forms of farming. The practice, which is largely taught in agricultural schools, is outdated and must be adapted to today's requirements."

his quote:

"In the faction we work on a division of labour. This means that we have Members who are as specialised as possible for all topics. For capacity reasons alone, not every MEP can deal with every subject. That is why I must unfortunately apologise for not being able to go through your concept in detail.
I have great confidence in the expertise of my colleagues and I think that Mr Häusling or another Green MEP who is intensively involved in the issues can give me very good advice here".
