We want to plant 10,000 trees in the Andes and after only two months we have already achieved a third of them! Ok, there was the great help of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), but also 156 godparents have helped to reforest the bare slopes in Tunari National Park.
First step completed
Last summer, we started the reforestation project in Bolivia, supporting 14 farming families to convert to dynamic agroforestry. We planted over 2,000 trees and many other plants. Erosion was reduced and the plants are developing very well. Many farming families now also want to introduce dynamic agroforestry on their land and ask us for help with the conversion.
The first project was 75% funded by the BMZ. At the moment we are working on the second project application and hope that the BMZ will support us again. If everything goes well, Katja Wiese from Naturefund will fly to Bolivia for another two weeks in August and can then report back to you from there.
