In November 2006, Naturefund, together with the nature protection organisation BUND Rhineland-Palatinate, purchased a wetland meadow in the Eifel area.

A variety of rare species live here, such as the Grass Frog, Red-backed Shrike and Kingfisher. Above all to mention is the Spring Frog, which only appears in a few places in Germany. Its only breeding places lie far apart. An appearance of the Spring Frog is here in this valley of the wetland meadow. 

The local BUND group of Ahrweiler will manage this meadow in the long-term. They have already created a pond which the Spring Frog and other amphibians such as Grass Grogs, Alpine Newts, Palmate Newts or Salamander can use to spawn their young.
