ProSieben joins Naturefund!
ProSieben, together with Naturefund, will begin the 'Green Seven - MyTree' campaign in May 2011! Above all internet communities will be encouraged to join: in the virtual MyTree world each user can plant their own tree and help it to grow as they reduce CO2. Those participating answer three questions per day on their behaviour: if it is kind to the environment then the tree grows, if not then it suffers. The most diligent users will be rewarded: ProSieben, together with Naturefund, will plant a real tree in the Honduran rainforest for every virtual tree that reaches a certain height.
For years the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has been warning of the drastic consequences of unchecked CO2 emissions. Current studies from the Max-Planck Institute and the European research cluster CarboEurope show that tree populations actually absorb more CO2 than previously thought. In May 2011, with the 'Green Seven Report 2011' and also through contributions to 'taff' and 'Galileo', ProSieben will make young target groups aware of sustainability and ecological lifestyles.
"More than 30,000 people have taken part in the huge ProSieben online survey "How eco are you?", states ProSieben Managing Director Jürgen Hörner. "This commitment from our online followers confirms to us that it was the right decision to extend the "Green Seven Day" to a whole month. "Green Seven 2011" covers food, alternative types of energy, the sacrifice of luxury and the big question: what is meant by sustainable living in the year 2011? We will explain quite controversial notions of active environment protection and sustainable living in "Galileo" and "taff".
