ProSieben began, together with Naturefund and Kaiser's Tengelmann in 2007, with the campaign: 'CO₂NTRA - Germany plants a tree'. With this project indigenous trees and bushes were planted in order to support the reforestation of natural forests and at the same time to reduce the levels of CO₂.

For years the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has warned us of the drastic consequences of uncurbed CO₂ emissions. Current studies by the Max-Planck Institute and the European research group CarboEurope, show that tree populations are crucially absorbing more CO₂ than previously estimated.

In the ProSieben magazine 'Galileo' and on the internet site, there are energy saving tips for customers, such as background information on CO₂ emissions. For every tree sold Kaiser's Tengelmann gave one euro to Naturefund. Naturefund used this contribution to establish new conservation projects, such as the purchase of a meadow orchard in the Frankfurt am Main area.
